Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Thursday recorded the statements of the three security guards who were deployed under the 'Y' security cover granted to late NCP leader Baba Siddique.

Siddique, who was shot dead in the upscale Mumbai's Bandra on October 12, was given the 2+1 security under which two security guards accompany him in the daytime while one remains on duty at night.

Two security guards were with him when he was in Bandra at his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique's office. One of the security guards left around half an hour before the incident took place while the other one stayed back, as per sources.

Six rounds were fired by the assailants of which two hit the former Maharashtra MLA's chest. The sources said that the security guard who was with him at that time did not fire in retaliation saying something stung his eyes which rendered him helpless.

Zeeshan has also sought to know why the security guards did not retaliate when his father was shot at.

Four people have been arrested so far in connection with the incident including two shooters Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap.

On Friday, Mumbai police issued an ook-out circular (LOC) against three accused, including main shooter Shivkumar Gautam, the third shooter who is still at large. The circulars have been issued to prevent the accused from fleeing the country.

The other two accused named in the LOC are the “co-conspirator” Shubham Lonkar and suspected handler Mohammed Zeeshan Akhtar.

Several teams of the crime branch have been sent to various parts of the country to nab the accused, the official said, reported PTI.

Meanwhile, Zeeshan urged on Thursday that his father's killing should not be politicised and asserted his family needs justice.

"Today, my family is broken but his death must not be politicised and definitely not go in vain. I NEED JUSTICE, MY FAMILY NEEDS JUSTICE!" the Bandra East MLA said in his social media post.
