In Uttar Pradesh's Agra, four students were taken into judicial custody for circulating an obscene video of a school teacher and blackmailing her, according to the police. The teacher, who resides in Agra, was employed at a school in Mathura and had been giving extra lessons to a Class 10 student in Agra who was struggling with his studies.
The police informed that over time, the student became close to the teacher and managed to record an obscene video of her on his mobile phone, NDTV reported. He then used the footage to blackmail the teacher into continuing a physical relationship with him. When the teacher attempted to distance herself, the situation escalated.
"The matter worsened when the teacher started distancing herself from the student and blocked his number. This angered the student and he sent the obscene video to three friends in his village," Agra senior police officer Suraj Rai explained during a press briefing, as quoted by NDTV's report.
The student’s friends shared the video further, spreading it on WhatsApp and creating an Instagram page to distribute the content, police said.
The teacher, overwhelmed by the incident, sought help at the Mission Shakti Abhiyan centre, where she revealed that the humiliation led her to contemplate suicide. After receiving support at the centre, she approached the police, according to the report.
In a video on X, Agra Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Suraj Rai informed that the four accused were taken into judicial custody after they were presented before a court.
UP: 2 Class IX Students Booked For Circulating AI-Generated Obscene Photo Of Teacher
In a separate incident last month, two Class IX students were booked in another obscene image scandal involving a teacher. The students allegedly used AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools to generate a fake obscene image of a female teacher, which they then posted on social media.
"We received a complaint regarding the matter on Thursday, based on which an FIR under sections of the IT Act has been lodged against the two minor accused. The matter is under further investigation," Civil Lines Police Station's Station House Officer (SHO) Manish Saxena said, as quoted by news agency PTI.
The police further stated that the accused shared the AI-generated images in various social media groups, and efforts are being made to remove the offensive content from the internet.
