Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the logo, website, and brochure of the newly established National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL) on Monday. The Union Cooperation Minister distributed membership certificates to NCEL members at the National Symposium on Cooperative Exports organised by the body in New Delhi.
The minister spoke at the launch event and said, "Today, on this auspicious occasion, National Cooperative Exports Limited is being formally launched. The logo, website and brochure will be in the public."
Union Minister Piyush Goyal addressed the audience at the event and said that the NCEL will be a key part of the cooperative sector and help farmers, labourers, and traders integrally. He said, “The National Cooperative Exports Limited may not have been registered in people's minds, but it is being launched with immense potential.”
Other issues to be discussed in the symposium include channelising cooperatives for linkages to export markets, the potential of Indian agri-exports, and opportunities for cooperatives, among others. The NCEL was set up by Shah stating that their is a need to establish a national-level multi-state cooperative society to act as an umbrella organisation for exports by the cooperative sector, the Ministry of Cooperation said in a statement.
NCEL has an authorised share capital of Rs 2,000 crore and the body will provide membership to all cooperative societies at all levels if they are interested in exports. The cooperative body intends to focus on exporting the additional products available in the Indian cooperative sector by accessing wider global markets, the ministry stated.
