Stock Market Holidays: August 2024 is set to be shortened trading month for investors as the Indian share market is scheduled to observe holidays on 10 days in the month. These holidays include the general weekend leaves for Saturday and Sunday, in addition to national holidays. 

Market participants should schedule their errands related to the markets and time their financial orders keeping in mind these holidays. During these holidays, both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed and investors will not be able to place any trades in the stock market. All types of trading activities will be ceased during these offs.

These holidays are declared by the stock exchanges well in advance. Typically, the equities segment allows investors to partake in trading on all weekdays, while Saturdays and Sundays are observed as weekend leaves.

During the regular trading sessions, the stock market begins with a pre-open session with an order entry and modification opening at 9 AM. This closes at 9:08 AM. The general trading hours for the normal and limited physical market opens at 9:15 AM. The closing bell for the stock market is rung at 3:30 PM. Between 3:40 PM and 4 PM, the market observes a closing session.

Further, the specific block deal session is operated in two windows. The morning session happens from 8:45 AM to 9 AM, while the afternoon session ranges from 2:05 PM to 2:20 PM.
