Stock Market Today: Looking ahead, the stock markets are set to be closed on two more occasions in April. Eid-Ul-Fitr will be observed on April 11, followed by Ram Navami on April 17
The Indian stock exchanges will remain closed on Monday, March 25, on account of Holi, marking the first holiday of the week. Following this, the markets will also be closed on Good Friday, March 29.
The trading hours for the Indian stock market are typically from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm on weekdays, Monday through Friday. However, as per the official BSE calendar, the markets are scheduled to be closed on at least 15 occasions throughout the year for various festivals and key events.
Looking ahead, the stock markets are set to be closed on two more occasions in April. Eid-Ul-Fitr will be observed on April 11, followed by Ram Navami on April 17. Additionally, two holidays in April, Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, and Mahavir Jayanti on April 21, will fall on weekends (Sunday).
In the last trading session, benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty experienced gains for the third consecutive session. This surge followed gains in index majors such as L&T, ITC, and Maruti. The market also saw positive momentum influenced by a record rally in the US markets after the Federal Reserve indicated plans for three rate cuts this year.
In the previous session on Friday, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed by 191 points to settle at 72,8312. On the other hand, the NSE NSE Nifty advanced by 85 points ended 22,097.
