“All segments viz., passenger vehicle, commercial vehicle, three-wheeler and two-wheelers posted growth in Q1 of 2024-25 over the Q1 of last year. While passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles have witnessed moderate growth, two-wheelers and three-wheelers have posted very handsome growth in double digits. Within two-wheelers, scooters have posted even higher growth based on some green shoots of recovery in entry-level two-wheelers. With a positive outlook on monsoon and the coming festive season, the automotive sector is poised to perform better in the balance part of the year,” said Vinod Aggarwal, President of SIAM.
Rajesh Menon, Director General of SIAM, highlighted that passenger vehicle sales during the first quarter (Q1) achieved their highest-ever figures for this period, surpassing the 1 million units mark for the first time. This milestone represented a 3 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, three-wheeler sales increased by 14.2 per cent in the April-June quarter year-on-year, while two-wheeler sales surged by 20.4 per cent. Sales of commercial vehicles also showed a positive trend, increasing by 3.5 per cent during the same period. SIAM reported an overall growth of 16.4 per cent in auto sales across all segments during the April-June quarter.
