Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited chairman Akash Ambani launched 5G services in Rajasthan from Nathdwara, Rajsamand, on Saturday. The company on Saturday has also started rolling out 5G services in Chennai. Jio has extended the Jio Welcome offer to the city.

"With blessings of Shrinathji, with Jio True 5G service, 5G power WiFi services are beginning in Nathdwara today. 5G is for everyone. So, it's our effort that 5G services begin in every corner of India and Jio Tru 5G service begin at the earliest," Akash Ambani said at the launch event, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Earlier, news agency IANS reported that Akash Ambani will reach Udaipur on Saturday morning by a special plane, from where he will travel to Nathdwara to launch 5G services in the desert state.

In 2015, Mukesh Ambani had paid a visit to Shrinathji temple before the launch of 4G services. In September this year, Mukesh Ambani had taken blessings from the temple mahant, Vishal Baba, after having darshan of Shrinathji. At that time, he had said that 5G services would be launched in the state from the temple in Nathdwara.

"The launch of 5G services will transform the lives of people in Rajasthan. It will make them technology savvy at par with global citizens," a company official told PTI.

"We welcome the launch of 5G services. It's 5G for Sriji," said Vishal Baba, mahant of the Nathdwara temple to PTI.

Akash Ambani took control of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited as chairman in June this year.

On October 2, 5G Services were launched in India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. The 5G spectrum auction organised earlier this year by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) saw Reliance Jio as the biggest bidder accounting for 58.65 per cent of the total value.

Jio has acquired 25,036 MHz of spectrum in 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 1800 MHz, 3300 MHz and 26 GHz band across the 22 telecom circles for a period of 20 years at a total price of Rs 87,947 crore.
