New Delhi: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Shaktikanta Das will address a press conference today at 10 am, as the government is attempting to bring the economy on track after several weeks of nationwide lockdown.

In a tweet on Friday morning, the RBI said: "Watch out for RBI Governor @DasShaktikanta live address at 10:00 am today (May 22, 2020) #rbitoday #rbigovernor," Reserve Bank Of India tweeted in the morning.

This is the third such kind of address by the RBI governor.

In the last two months Das has given live address twice in the context of coronavirus related measures and has announced a slew of measures in a bid to mitigate the loss to the country at the economic front.

The first of his video address was held on March 27 and the second one was on April 17.

In these two pressers, the RBI governor had announced several measures to ease liquidity pressure in the banking system and to boost the economy from the coronavirus shock.

In his last address in April, Das had announced to reduce the fixed reverse repo rate under liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) by 25 basis points from 4% to 3.75%, with immediate effect. "It has been decided to provide special refinance facilities for an amount of Rs 50,000 crores to National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development, Small Industries Development Bank of India, and National Housing Bank to enable them to meet sectoral credit needs", the RBI Governor had said.
