Industrialist Ratan Tata issued a clarification on Monday after reports emerged of the entrepreneur being admitted to a hospital on emergency basis. Tata in his post on social media platform, Instagram, thanked the public for thinking of him, however, he noted that he is undergoing regular medical checkups. He urged that there is no cause for concern and he remains in good spirits.
Notably, news surfaced on Monday morning that the philanthropist got rushed to the hospital in the early hours. The entrepreneur experienced a medical emergency and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital around 12:30 AM - 1 AM in critical condition, the reports stated. This hospitalisation was attributed to an alleged drastic fall in his blood pressure.
However, the Tata Group Chairman said that he remains healthy and urged media and the public to refrain from spreading misinformation.
Born on December 28, 1937, Ratan Naval Tata remains at the helm of Tata Group and is well-known for his simplicity and humility. In addition to being a business tycoon, he is famous for his philanthropic endeavours.
After assuming the role of chairman of the Tata Group in March 1991, the industrialist was the successor of JRD Tata. He began restructuring the Tata Group and in early 2000s, the conglomerate grew under his leadership. He also went to acquire high-profile firms in the group such as Jaguar Land Rover, Corus, Tetley, and Daewoo, among others. Overall, he acquired 36 firms in the span of 9 years.
He stepped down as chairman in 2012 and was appointed Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons.
