Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday outlined ambitious projections for India's economic future, asserting that the country is poised to become the world's third-largest economy during his government's third term. Speaking at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi, Modi unveiled plans for the construction of 1,000 modern rest houses along national highways catering to truck and taxi drivers in Phase-1 of the initiative.

With general elections scheduled for April-May this year, Modi's address emphasised India's rapid progress and economic trajectory. He highlighted significant growth in vehicle sales since 2014, noting an increase from 12 crore vehicles in the 10 years prior to his government taking office to over 21 crore vehicles sold in the country thereafter.

Moreover, the prime minister underscored the remarkable surge in electric vehicle adoption, citing a substantial rise from 2,000 electric vehicles (EVs) sold a decade ago to 12 lakh electric vehicles sold presently. He pointed out a 60 per cent growth in passenger vehicle sales over the past decade, reflecting India's evolving automotive landscape.
