New Delhi: Losing your ATM or debit cards can be scary in the digital age when today technology has enabled transactions with contactless cards. In today’s times because of the pandemic customers prefer to transact digitally and making less use of cash. Most of the times we end up using our debit cards for every small and big transactions from ordering food, booking tickets for travel to online shopping. There are always chances of losing or misplace the ATM-cum-debit card, and to help customers deal with such a situation, State Bank of India (SBI) in a tweet told customers that blocking and re-issuance of their debit card has become simple.

"Blocking and Reissuance of your Debit Card has become simple. Just dial our Toll-Free numbers from your Registered Mobile Number, Block the card & request for Reissue. Toll free numbers: 1800 112 211 or 1800 425 3800," SBI tweeted.



If you happen to lose or misplace your card, besides calling on the helpline number 1800 425 3800, you can place the request for the re-issue of the debit card through official website and mobile app too.

How to do it through official website?

-Firstly, log on to sbicard.com.

-Then click on the ‘Request'

-Scroll down to click on 'Reissue/Replace Card'

-You can view the card number, select the lost card number

-Last step is to click on ‘Submit’

How to apply through mobile app?

Open the sbicard mobile app

Tap on the 'Menu tab' at the top left hand

Click on 'Service Request'

Tap on 'Reissue/Replace Card'

Select the card number and finally click on 'Submit'

Replacement fee for the reissue Card

Note that a replacement fee of ₹100 + taxes will be charged in case of reissue/replacement.

What's the time taken for the re-issue of the SBI debit card?

Once you have made the request to reissue/replace card, you will get the new card in 7 working days. However, it may take some more time depending upon your location.

SBI also informed its account holders that they can generate their ATM PIN with just one call. "Generate your ATM PIN/ Green PIN with just one call. Dial our Toll-Free numbers from your Registered Mobile Number. Contact numbers: 1800 112 211 or 1800 425 3800," country's top lender said in a tweet.
