PAN-Aadhaar Link: Steps To Check Your Status On PAN-Aadhaar Card Link
If you do not know whether your PAN card is linked to your Aadhaar, you can check by going on the Income Tax Department's website incometax.gov.in.
The deadline to link PAN card with Aadhaar card is fast approching. You need to link the two enssetial government documents before April 1, 2023, to prevent your PAN from being inoperative. It is important to note that if you link them now, you will have to pay a late fee of Rs 1,000 as the last date for linking without penalty was June 30, 2022.
In its latest public advisory, The IT Departmet said, "Last date to link your PAN & Aadhaar is approaching soon! As per IT Act,1961, it is mandatory for all PAN holders, who do not fall under the exempt category, to link their PAN with Aadhaar before March 31, 2023. From April 1, 2023, the unlinked PAN shall become inoperative. Please link today!"

As per IT Act,1961, it is mandatory for all PAN holders, who do not fall under the exempt category, to link their PAN with Aadhaar before 31.3.23. From 1.4.23, the unlinked PAN shall become inoperative.

If you do not know whether your PAN card is linked to your Aadhaar, you can check by going on the Income Tax Department's website incometax.gov.in.
Here is how you can check PAN and Aadhaar linkage status
- Visit “https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/" and under the ‘Quick Links’ section, click on ‘Link Aadhaar Status’.
- Enter your PAN and Aadhaar Number, and then click on the ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’ option.
- Your PAN and Aadhaar linkage status will be displayed on the screen upon successful validation.
- PAN Holders should note that they need to check the status again if the UIDAI is still processing their request to link PAN and Aadhaar for confirmation.
The PAN-Aadhaar linkage status can also be checked through SMS. You can do this by sending an SMS to 56161 or 567678. If both cards are linked, the notification will say, "Aadhaar is already associated with PAN in ITD Database."
The notice "Your Aadhaar is not associated with PAN in ITD Database" would appear if the PAN and Aadhaar cards are not linked.
According to IT department, "Every person who has been allotted a PAN as on July 1, 2017, and is eligible to obtain Aadhaar number is required to link PAN with Aadhaar on or before March, 31, 2022. Taxpayers who failed to do so are liable to pay a fee of Rs 500 till June 30, 2022 and thereafter a fee of Rs 1,000 will be applicable before submission of PAN-Aadhaar linkage request."
