PAN-Aadhaar Card Linking Deadline 31 March: If you haven't yet linked the Permanent Account Number (PAN) to your Aadhaar card, then today is the last day as the deadline to link both the documents ends on 31 March. In case you have failed to link your PAN card with Aadhaar card by Wednesday, then the income tax department will impose a penalty on you. It is important to note that you will not only be liable to pay a fine of up to ₹1,000 but the PAN will also become invalid.
As the time of passage of the Finance Bill, 2021, on March 23, the government inserted a new section (Section 234H) into the Income Tax Act, 1961 for penalising individuals who do not link PAN with the Aadhaar card by 31 March 2021.
PAN - Aadhaar Link: What You Should Know?
According to the Section 139AA, it is mandatory for every indivdual to mention the Aadhaar number in their IT return along with the application for the allotment of PAN given they are eligible for Aadhaar. All those who have been allotted PAN as of 1 July 1, 2017 and is eligible to obtain Aadhaar number is required to link his PAN to Aadhaar.
Earlier, the government has offered extensions to link PAN with Aadhaar Card. It is not sure whether the government will give further extensions. It is advised to follow the simple steps to link your Aadhaar with your PAN card:

- Step 1: Log on to the official website of Income Tax e-filing - incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
- Step 2: Click on the 'Link Aadhaar' button on the leftside of the homepage menu bar
- Step 3: Fill in details like PAN number, Aadhaar number, and holder's name
- Step 4: Verify details and fill captcha code
- Step 5: Click on link Aadhaar and the process of PAN Aadhaar Linking will get complete.
- Step 6: The Income-tax department will validate your details after which the PAN- Aadhaar linking will be completed
