New Delhi: Reliance’s goodwill ambassador, Nita Ambani has been ranked second in the list of Most Powerful Women by Fortune India. Read about her feats as Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation

Nita Ambani - Founder and Chairperson, Reliance Foundation has been ranked second in the list of Fortune India’s Most Powerful Women. Deserving of the honorary title, Nita Ambani has proved to be a true goodwill ambassador of India’s largest conglomerate, the Reliance Industries.

It all started with her timely and commendable work when the unprecedented pandemic hit our country. Taking stock of the challenges faced by the people in various states, Reliance foundation and Nita Ambani came forward to provide 1000 free beds for COVID patients in Jamnagar. This was in addition to the 775 free beds across NSCI, Seven Hills Hospital, and the Trident, BKC.

Back then Nita Ambani had said, "India is facing an unprecedented challenge due to the second wave of Covid. We are focused on doing as much as we can to enable India and Indians in our fight against Covid.  One of the critical elements in this battle is to augment healthcare facilities very quickly, which is the need of the hour. Reliance Foundation is setting up a 1000-bedded hospital with Oxygen for Covid patients in Jamnagar free of cost.

The first phase of 400 beds will be ready within a week, and the other 600 beds in another week thereafter. This is one more initiative of RF to help in this crisis. We hope our efforts will provide additional strength in the nation's fight against the pandemic and save many more lives."

During the pandemic, her foundation took the responsibility of vaccinating 25 lakh people through the digital platform - JioHealthHub. The foundation distributed over 8.5 crore free meals to the marginalized groups, daily-wage earners, and frontline workers across 100 districts, 19 states, and 4 union territories. Besides, a fleet of 20 animal ambulances were also deployed to provide fodder and care for animals during the year.

In addition to the above, Nita Ambani has been painstakingly working for the welfare of women in India. She launched Her Circle - A Reliance Foundation initiative, which is an engaging and upliftment-oriented content platform. It narrates inspiring tales of women who have fought all odds to emerge winners in their respective fields/ communities.

Here are some excerpts from her speech at the International Day of the Girl, “Nothing gives me greater joy than to see women rise and shine! On International Day of the Girl, my wish is to see all young girls find their rightful place under the sky. We must empower them to be the force of nature that they are born to be! I am delighted that in a short span of six months, Her Circle has created an equal and inclusive digital movement of sisterhood and solidarity. Her Circle is a space for women to connect, tell their stories, and be truly heard! Women and children, especially little girls, have always been at the heart of all our work at Reliance Foundation. Our programs span the length and breadth of India. We work with women in the remotest corners - fuelling their dreams and enabling their success.”
