The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) achieved a new milestone and recorded its highest-ever monthly traffic in November 2023. The airport logged a peak monthly passenger traffic of 4.46 million last month, registering a growth of 13 per cent, against the same period a year earlier, which saw 3.9 million passengers.

This figure marked a recovery in passenger traffic last month by 109 per cent, against the pre-pandemic era. Additionally, the CSMIA managed to record its highest-ever single-day Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) at 1,032 ATMs on November 11, while November 25 logged the peak single-day traffic at 167,132 passengers. Overall, November 2023 witnessed 28,679 ATMs, up by 12 per cent against 25,375 ATMs recorded in the corresponding period a year earlier.

This growth was attributed to the global connectivity and launch of several domestic and international destinations along with robust infrastructure and services available at the airport.

The top domestic destinations for the airport remained Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, while Dubai, London, and Abu Dhabi retained their positions as the favourite destinations globally.

On the busy Mumbai-Delhi route, CSMIA logged a traffic of 557,393 passengers. Among the airlines dominating the domestic market, IndiGo, Vistara, and Air India continued to be in the lead, with IndiGo catering to more than 1.6 million passengers. Globally, IndiGo, Air India, and Emirates retained their positions among the top.

Notably, CSMIA recently increased its global connectivity and frequency by adding destinations like Entebbe, Baku, Bangkok, and Toronto.

Notably, CSMIA, also known as Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) is managed by a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, the Adani Airport Holding Limited (AAHL). Adani Enterprises represents the flagship firm of the Adani Group, led by billionaire Gautam Adani. MIAL represents a public-private partnership (PPP) between AAHL and the Airports Authority of India, with the former holding the majority share of 74 per cent, and the remaining stake with the latter authority.
