The Income Tax Department on Tuesday conducted raids at several cities in Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal and Indore. The raids were conducted at locations associated with Som Group of Companies in Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Indore. The group is largely in the business of spirits, beer, and alcopop, according to news agency ANI. 


The raids began on Tuesday morning and further deatails are awaited. 


On Saturday, the Income Tax sleuths raided the residence of former DMK Secretary Vasuki Murugesan's sister Padma in Tamil Nadu's Karur, after initially conducting searches on Friday.






The I-T officials were also present at financier Suresh's office in Gandhipuram and his residence in KVP Nagar, as per an ANI report. 


On Friday, the Income Tax Department carried out searches at 37 locations across Tamil Nadu at premises related to political leaders including Tamil Nadu Minister EV Velu.


The raids started on Friday at 6:30 pm from Tiruvannamalai and extended it to educational institutions related to the family across the state. Following the I-T department's actions, Velu's followers gathered in front of his residence and raised slogans in support of the minister.

EV Velu is a senior member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), and in charge of the Public Works portfolio in Tamil Nadu. 


On November 2, the Income Tax department conducted raids at the residence of and offices of Maheswaram Assembly Congress candidate Kicchenagari Laxma Reddy (a) KLRs and Badangpet Mayor Chigirintha Parijatha Narasimha Reddy in Hyderabad


The searches were conducted at 10 other places  including Hyderabad residence of Reddy. Party workers staged a protest outside Laxma Reddy's farm house while the raids were underway.
