Axis Bank To Lose Major Client; Maha Govt Decides To Switch Bank For Police Dept’s Salary Accounts: Report
In August this year, the former CM Devendra fadnavis was allegedly held responsible for switching of salary accounts of police personnel to Axis Bank.
New Delhi: One of the leading private sector banks - Axis Bank is likely to lose its highly valued customer, the Maharashtra government, soon, as the government is considering a proposal to disburse salaries and grants only through nationalised banks, media reports have stated.
The state government which operates the Maharashtra police department’s salary account with Axis Bank, is soon going to switch over to a nationalised bank, a report in Mumbai Mirror stated.
A decision to this effect is likely to be taken after the cabinet expansion of the new Shiv Sena-led alliance takes place, the report said.
The Cabinet expansion would take place on December 30 at 1 pm, said Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamna on Tuesday.
It is pertinent to note that former CM Devendra Fadnavis’s wife Amruta Fadnavis is a vice-president with Axis bank.
In August this year, the former CM was allegedly held responsible for switching of salary accounts of police personnel to Axis Bank.
As per a report, in HuffPost India, the former CM was accused of pushing the 2 lakh strong police force to shift their salary accounts from nationalized banks to Axis Bank. A social worker from Nagpur, Mohnish Jabalpure, had filed a complaint before the Enforcement Directorate and a petition before the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court in this regard.
As the Fadanavis government makes exit in the state, the new Maha Vikas Aghadi government has reportedly decided to disburse salaries to its employees only through nationalized banks now.
