New Delhi: The Coronavirus outbreak has hit the governments from all aspects forcing them to resort to tough decisions. In view of the crisis, Haryana government has announced no hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees till one complete year - July, 2021. Haryana Finance department in a notice issued on Monday said that the additional installment of DA to government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to government pensioners in Haryana shall be freezed for an year however they will continue to get their DA and/or DR at the current rate of 17%.

"In view of the crisis arising out of Covid-19, it has been decided that additional installment of Dearness Allowance payable to Haryana Government employees and Dearness Relief to Haryana Government pensioners, due from 1st January 2020 shall not be paid," authorities said in the official notice.

The ministry added that the additional installments of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief due from 1st July 2020 and 1st January 2021 shall also not be paid. However, Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief at current rates i.e. 17 per cent will continue to be paid.

"As and when the decision to release the future instalment of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief due from July 1, 2021 is taken by the government, the rates of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief as effective from January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020, and January 1, 2021 will be restored prospectively and will be subsumed in the cumulative revised rate effective from July 1, 2021. No arrears for the period from January 1, 2020 till June 30, 2021, shall be paid," the circular further read.

Yesterday, the Haryana Cabinet in a historic decision cleared a draft ordinance to reserve the 75 per cent jobs in private sector for residents of the state.

Once given a final approval, the Haryana State Employment Act for local candidates will be applicable to all the private industries and firms in Haryana where more than 10 employees are employed.
