Real estate prices in Gurugram have hit the roof and become the talk of the town. The issue became a topic of conversation when a user called Abhinav Kukreja posted about the steep prices of luxury housing in the region.
In a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Kukreja said, “DLF launched their new project, The Dahlias on Golf Course Road, Gurgaon today. Smallest apartment configuration is 9500 sqft. Expected selling price is ₹80k per sqft. This means that there is now a building in Gurgaon where the cheapest home costs ~ ₹75Cr ($9m).”
Sharing the pics of DLF’s latest high-end project, he highlighted the luxurious amenities offered in the project such as private theatres, games rooms, and spa facilities. However, the smallest unit in the development was priced at Rs 75 crore.
The post resulted in a heated conversation on social media, with users sharing their shock at the price tags in the region. Many people made comparisons regarding the property prices prevalent in some of the biggest cities in the world.
One of the user commented, “Maybe its the dilliwala in me but I don’t see the appeal. 75cr gets you a 600sqyd kothi in Sundar Nagar where your neighbors will be khandaani rahees An apartment seems like a downgraded from it”.
Another individual said, “You can get a facing view in Italy for the same price with much better facilities.” Whereas others questioned the state of real estate in the country. “Our real estate is out of control. Pound for pound, It's cheaper to buy housing abroad than in India,” another user stated.
