Gold-Silver Price, August 13: Gold and silver prices have seen a slight jump today (August 13). Today on the MCX October gold was trading at Rs 46,441 and December gold at Rs 46,620 per 10 grams. Silver for September delivery was priced at Rs 62046 per kg. Silver with December delivery was trading at Rs 62780 per kg. Gold rose to $1756 an ounce in the international market while silver remained almost steady at $23.44 an ounce.


Gold and silver rates witnessed a hike in the past day. But gold is currently cheaper than its record level of Rs 56,200 per 10 grams to about Rs 10,000. "Gold prices improved as U.S. Treasury earnings fell and the dollar weakened," said Tapan Patel, senior analyst (commodity) at HDFC Securities.


Sensex Cross 55,000 Mark


Shares of HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and TCS strengthened to a more than 250-point gain in early trade today, crossing the 55,000-mark. The 30-share index was trading at an all-time high of 55,102.42, up 258.4 points, or 0.47 percent, in early trade. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange was up 69.80 points, or 0.43 percent, at 16,434.20 points in initial deals.


Mahindra & Mahindra's shares climbed more than one percent among the Sensex pack. Shares of L&T, HDFC Bank, ITC, and Axis Bank were also among the top gainers. On the other hand, shares of Tech Mahindra, Dr Reddy's, Sun Pharma, PowerGrid and Tata Steel recorded losses. Meanwhile, international oil standard Brent crude fell 0.59 percent to $70.89 per barrel.
