'Fortune Rice Bran Oil Is Not A Medicine': Adani CEO Quashes Murmurs Revolving Around Ganguly's Health
Adani Wilmar Dy CEO Angshu Mallick said that "ricebran oil is not a medicine but only a cooking oil." He highlighted that there are several factors which affect heart including dietary and hereditary issues.
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Saturday complained a mild chest pain post which he had to undergo an urgent angioplasty in Kolkata. The 48-year-old, former Indian captain, is likely to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow as now he can be monitored from home. While Ganguly's condition stablises, a storm has been brewing for a product that he endorses.
After Ganguly's hospitalisation, Adani Wilmar's Fortune Rice Bran Cooking Oil came under scanner as the product claims to "reduce bad cholesterol". The online community was not kind as the heart ailment incident of the former Indian cricketer was linked with the claims of the product.

Quashing those notions running in the online community, Adani Wilmar Dy CEO Angshu Mallick said that "ricebran oil is not a medicine but only a cooking oil." He highlighted that there are several factors which affect heart including dietary and hereditary issues.
Calling Ganguly's incident "very unfortunate" Adani Wilmar's Dy CEO posed a rhetorical question stating: "Recently a senior IT executive collapsed on treadmill while exercising. Does that mean Treadmill is bad?"
Meanwhile, Angshu Mallick informed that the all the advertisements related to the product and Sourav Ganguly has temporarily been taken down but the 'Prince of Kolkata' will continue to remain its ambassador.

"We shall continue to work with Saurav and he will continue to be our brand ambassador. We have only taken a temporary break in our TV commercial till we again sit with Saurav and take things forward," he said.
As per reports, out of the many oils available to us, rice bran is accepted to be the healthier choice for the heart. According to World Health Organisation(WHO) and American Heart Association(AHA), rice bran oil has the best possible composition of monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, and saturated fats as compared to other vegetable oils.
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has found that rice bran oil contains MUFA, Omega-6 PUFA, and natural antioxidants like Oryzanol, Tocopherols and Tocotrienols, which lower bad cholesterol levels.
