Delhi Budget Outlay For 2023-24 Likely To Be Close To Rs 80,000 Crore: Report
The budget session of the Delhi assembly will start on March 17 with Lt Governor VK Saxena addressing the House, and the budget outlay is likely to be close to Rs 80,000 crore
The Delhi government's budget outlay for 2023-24 to be tabled in the upcoming assembly session is likely to be close to Rs 80,000 crore. The tax collection of the government in the current and the next financial year is expected to remain as per estimates, reported news agency PTI quoting officials.
The annual budget size of the government for 2022-23 was Rs 75,800 crore and Rs 69,000 crore in the year earlier. The budget outlay of the capital city is higher this year on the back of stronger tax revenue.
The budget session of the Delhi assembly will begin on March 17 with Lt Governor VK Saxena addressing the House. The budget will be tabled on March 21 and it will be preceded by an Outcome Budget of the government.

It will be finance minister Kailash Gahlot's first budget presentation in the assembly. He was given charge of the department after the resignation of deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia who was arrested by the ED in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam case.

The budget may have significant outlay for infrastructure development, particularly roads, apart from health and education, said officials.
Meanwhile, former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was sent to ED custody till March 17 in a money laundering case related to the government's excise policy. Special judge MK Nagpal did not turn up to read the order. The information was sent to the lawyers through the court staff, ABP sources said.
