The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on March 13 introduced colourful NFT tickets for two Tejas trains operating between Delhi and Lucknow, commemorating the festival of Holi. The unveiling of these NFTs, displayed on IRCTC's official digital platforms, showcases sketches of historical landmarks from Delhi and Lucknow against vibrant backgrounds.

Scheduled to commence from March 20, passengers purchasing tickets for Tejas trains numbered 82501 and 82502 during this period will have the opportunity to access these NFTs until April 2.

Highlighting the significance of these digital tokens, IRCTC tweeted this:

While the corporation has not clarified whether these NFT tickets will be complimentary or require an additional fee, it marks a progressive step towards embracing digital collectibles powered by blockchain technology.

Indian Railways has been actively exploring blockchain technology's potential applications, with initiatives such as circulating NFTs as digital memorabilia. Last year, the National Academy of Indian Railways, in collaboration with Polygon, organised workshops to raise awareness about blockchain's benefits in the railway sector. Earlier this year, IRCTC introduced NFT tickets for travel to Ayodhya, further indicating its adoption of innovative digital solutions.
