New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a post-budget webinar on Tuesday on ‘financing for growth and aspirational economy' to accelerate the pace of development work announced during the budget by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharam in February.


Beginning his address, PM Modi greeted the women of our country on International Women's Day and said that as we hold discussions regarding Budget today, it is a matter of pride that India has a woman finance minister who presented a progressive budget.

PM Modi said that in the Budget 2022-2023, the government has taken many steps to continue the momentum of rapid growth. He said, "by encouraging foreign capital flows, reducing tax on infra investment, creating institutions like NIIF, Gift City, new DFIs, we have tried to accelerate financial and economic growth."


Focusing on entrepreneurs across the country, PM Modi said, "our startups can grow only when we encourage entrepreneurship, lay stress on innovation, focus on new business areas. The financing sector needs to look at new futuristic ideas, innovative financing of initiatives, and sustainable risk management."


The Prime Minister also focused on green projects and said, "India has set a target of net-zero carbon emissions by the year 2070. To speed up work on this, it's necessary to accelerate environment-friendly projects."


PM Modi's address was a part of the series of webinar organised by the Ministry of Finance for the speedy implementation of budget announcements across various key sectors.


Experts from the public and the private sectors, academia and the industry will take part in the webinar and discuss strategies towards implementation of various issues under different sectors. 


"In participation at the highest level, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a special address during the inaugural session. The webinar involves participation from 16 ministries, NITI Aayog, Capacity Building Commission and State Governments," the Finance ministry statement said, as reported by news agency PTI.
