A social media post regarding a job offer from Google has gone viral after Kartik Jolapara, a developer at JP Morgan, shared it on X (formerly Twitter). Jolapara posted a screenshot of the offer extended to a software engineer with ten years of experience but no formal computer science degree. The candidate, who graduated from a tier 3 college, received an impressive compensation package, igniting discussions about salaries and hiring practices in the tech industry.

The offer disclosed a total compensation package for the Senior Software Engineer position, which included a base salary of Rs 65 lakh per annum, an annual bonus of Rs 9 lakh, a signing bonus of Rs 19 lakh, and a relocation bonus of Rs 5 lakh. Jolapara captioned the post with "crazy offers," expressing his astonishment at the figures, particularly considering the candidate's academic background.

The post quickly gained traction, drawing comments from professionals across various industries. “To be very honest not impressed with the numbers. I’ve seen better by the same company. But I’m happy for him. 10 years experience and L5 requires a lot of expertise,” one of the X users said.

Another user added: “Interesting to see people thinking these big numbers as low ball park figures. Tech jobs have really deflated money.”

“Tech and banking are the only 2 places where you can actually become a dollar millionaire by just sticking through… Stories of startup employees making it big are far and few but ofc that will be outside wealth vs above,” added a third user.

Sharing the trajectory of growth in a tech firm, another user commented, “These numbers can be seen with people with 6-8 yoe experience as well. I have seen people getting similar or even more. But again that’s a really good number and I hope the guy is happy and wish him all the best.”
