Diwali, one of the most significant Hindu festivals, symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. This year, the celebration is set to take place on October 31st. Known as the 'Festival of Lights,' Diwali spans five days, starting with Dhanteras and culminating in Bhai Dooj. During this time, families decorate their homes with lamps, exchange sweets, and engage in joyous activities that foster unity and hope. Given India's diverse traditions and customs, the festival is celebrated on different days across various states, leading to nationwide bank holidays.
The festivities commenced with Dhanteras on October 29 and will culminate in Bhai Dooj on November 3, resulting in widespread bank closures. As per the Hindu calendar, Diwali, also known as Deepawali, will be celebrated on October 31.
