New Delhi: The Union Government's Pension Scheme Atal Pension Yojana has set a new record. So far, more than 3.30 crore people have been enrolled in the scheme across the country. The information about this record was given by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).

In the current financial year, 28 lakh people have joined the scheme. According to the information received so far till August 25, total of 3.30 crore people were enrolled in the pension scheme. The Atal Pension Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 9, 2015.


Most people associated with SBI


As per the current financial year 2021-22, SBI Bank has the highest number of people associated with Atal Pension. More than 8 lakh new people have subscribed to the scheme so far via SBI Bank. People who have savings accounts in banks are more associated with the Atal Pension Yojana. This number is close to 2.33 crore. Since then, 61.32 lakh people in regional rural banks have availed the scheme. 20.64 lakh people in private banks, 10.78 lakh people in small finance banks and payment banks, 3.40 lakh in post offices and 84,627 people from cooperative banks have taken advantage of this pension scheme.


What is Atal Pension Yojana?


The Atal Pension Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. To be eligible for this pension scheme, a person should have a savings account in a bank or post office. The age of joining the scheme is minimum 18 years and the maximum age is 40 years. It is a guaranteed pension scheme. Under this, the depositor gets a pension ranging from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 5000. The amount of pension depends on the money deposited in the scheme. When a person is 60 years old, he/she is given this pension amount.
