Industrialist Anand Mahindra took to social media to congratulate Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das after he secured an "A+" rating in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2024. Mahindra praised Das, referring to the achievement as a "gold medal in the Central Bank Olympics."


In a post on the platform X (formerly Twitter), Mahindra lauded Das’s accomplishments, stating, "His parents named him well. He’s shown his mettle—his Shakti—to the world… Our Gold medal winner in the Central Bank Olympics…”






The Global Finance Magazine released the names of the central bank governors around the world who have earned 'A+', 'A', or 'A-' in its Central Banker Report Cards for the year 2024. Shaktikanta Das Earns 'A+' Rating for Second Year.


On August 20, Das received an 'A+' rating for the second consecutive year, according to the Global Finance Magazine. The RBI also shared the news on X, quoting the magazine's report. Das was one of three central bank governors globally to receive the prestigious rating, alongside Denmark's Christian Kettel Thomsen and Switzerland's Thomas Jordan.


The Global Finance Magazine annually assesses central bank governors worldwide, grading them from 'A+' to 'F' based on factors such as inflation control, economic growth targets, currency stability, and interest rate management.


Global Rankings Revealed


In addition to the top-rated “A+” recipients, several central bank governors received an "A" rating, including Brazil's Roberto Campos Neto, Chile's Rosanna Costa, and South Africa's Lesetja Kganyago. Governors earning an “A-” rating included Canada’s Tiff Macklem, the EU's Christine Lagarde, and the United States' Jerome Powell.


Since 1994, the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards have been a trusted measure of performance, highlighting excellence in monetary policy and economic stability across the globe.
