Our Childhood Superhero 'Shaktiman' Says, Women Should Just Take Care Of Household'; It's High Time We Had A Shaktiwoman!
It is much to everyone's wonder that did Mukesh Khana feel the same way for his lady counterpart Geeta Vishwas while he essayed the role of iconic Shaktiman?
Our childhood Superhero Shaktiman is making headlines in 2020 and all for the wrong reasons and people have started feeling that it is now Mukesh Khanna's turn to say Sorry Shaktiman! Renowned actor Mukesh Khanna gave sexist and misogynist remarks and stirred a huge controversy that has offended every woman in the country today.
Mukesh Khanna has said that the #MeToo movement began because women started thinking of themselves as equal to men. He said that it is the duty of women to take care of the household.
A video of his comments from a recent interview is being widely shared online. In the video, the actor says, “The problem of #MeToo began when women started working.”
In the interview, given to The Filmy Charcha, the actor says, “Aurat ka kaam hai ghar sambhalna, jo maaf karna mein kabhi kabhi bol bhi jata hu (The job of a woman is to take care of the house). Problem kaha se shuru hui hai #MeToo ki jab aurato ne bhi kaam karna shuru kar diya (The problem of #MeToo began when women started working). Aaj aurat mard ke saath kandhe se kandha milane ki baat karti hai (Today, women talk about walking shoulder-to-shoulder with men).”
It is much to everyone's wonder that did Mukesh Khana feel the same way for his lady counterpart Geeta Vishwas while he essayed the role of iconic Shaktiman? Making such huge remarks on women, Mukesh Khanna has raised questions on every woman who had gone through a 'Me Too' experience or supported the movement to stop such shameful incidents.
People expected some ounce of sensibility from the 'Bhisma Pitamah' of Mahabharat but contrary to every character he performed on-screen, Mukesh Khanna came as a huge disappointment to many and Netizens demanded a public apology from him and slammed him for such a sexist mindset.
While Mukesh Khanna's misogynist statement on women ruined the childhood for 90s kids, it is high time we have a Shaktiwoman to shut such men who love to cut the wings of strong and independent women and stop them from achieving heights or in Shaktiman's words 'walk shoulder to shoulder with men'.
Mukesh Khanna's statement proved the patriarchal mindset which still exists in the country while women have proved themselves in every field achieving great feats.
So some points to remember for our dearest 'Shaktiman'
- Women are equal to Men.
- It is not women's duty to take care of the household but men hold equal responsibility.
- The problem of 'Me Too' did not start because of women trying to walk shoulder to shoulder with men.
- It is the moral human right of a woman to work as she likes.
- Gender stereotyping and blaming women won't solve your problems.
- #MeToo is not a woman's campaign but for everyone who ever faced any sexual assault.
- Come out of your hypothetical world and start reading about successful women.
