Volkswagen has updated its Tiguan for the Indian market and one of the highlights include ADAS now being offered. The Tiguan gets Park Assist (Level 1) ADAS and this helps in parking across tight spaces with a parking assistant. Other than that the Volkswagen Tiguan now gets a dual-tone Storm Grey interior along with wireless mobile charging. The 2.0 TSI turbo petrol engine has also now been updated to meet RDE norms while the fuel efficiency has been improved by 7 per cent to 13.54kmpl.
The Tiguan SUV as always gets a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox plus it has 4Motion all-wheel drive technology. If you look at safety the new Tiguan now comes with a rear seat belt reminder, along with innovative, safety technologies and assistance systems such as six airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), ESC, anti-slip regulation (ASR), EDL, hill start assist, hill descent control, engine drag torque control, activeTPMS, 3 head-rests at rear, 3-point seat belts, ISOFIX and driver alert systems.
The new Tiguan will come at a price tag of Rs 34.69 lakh. The Tiguan has been the flagship Volkswagen offering in India being a 5-seater SUV, the German auto brand previously had the 7 Seater Tiguan AllSpace also. The new Tiguan enters the premium SUV space and will compete with the likes of the new Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Kodiaq and also to some extent entry-level luxury SUVs like the Volvo XC40, and BMW X1.
Volkswagen had recently unveiled its updated lineup of Taigun and Virtus with new variants while with this it has updated its full lineup in India. With this much power, the Tiguan is now one of the fastest SUVs in its class while having a more powerful engine than more expensive entry-level luxury SUVs too.
