Toyota has displayed its Flex Fuel Innova Hycross at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo and it is its hybrid Innova Hycross being modified to run on a higher blend of ethanol.

This Flex Fuel powertrain combines the same 2.0 l petrol engine being combined with an electric motor but the difference is that this car can run on petrol with ethanol blending of 20 percent or even higher.

Compared to the standard Innova Hycross, it has even lower emissions since already 60 percent of the time it runs on electricity since the Hycross has a dedicated EV mode while the flex fuel engine brings in further lower emissions.

Due to running on ethanol blended fuel, a lot of changes have been done to the engine to be able to run with this fuel including different components and the car's fuel pump, exhaust and other areas have also had significant changes.

Visually, there are not many changes in terms of the exterior apart from the graphics while it is expected to drive the same as the conventional hybrid Hycross.

The carmaker also had the Mirai hydrogen on display which runs on Hydrogen and globally is one of the few cars to run on hydrogen. The Mirai is a radical design and the new generation model has a lot of space and features with more practicality.

Amongst the other cars being displayed at the Toyota Pavilion at the Bharat Mobility Show included the Hyryder CNG which is the second SUV to get a CNG option in the compact SUV space. The Hyryder CNG comes with S and G trim levels.

Toyota has shown Flex Fuel cars before and has been aggressively championing this technology.
