Delhi Weather Update: IMD Predicts Rain On February 3-4 Amid Another Western Disturbance

According to IMD, Delhi will likely receive light or moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall on February 3 and 4 due to western disturbance.

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted a fresh Western Disturbance in the middle topospheric westrlies, as a result of which light or moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is likely to happen over Delhi, Punjab, and Rajasthan on February 3 and 4. Due to this, Uttar Pradesh is also expected to receive rainfall on February 4 and 5.

It will generally be a cloudy sky today with dense fog in the morning, as per IMD's Delhi weather forecast. There is a possibility of very light rain or drizzle towards the night. 

According to IMD local weather forecast of Delhi, the maximum temperature is predicted to be 18.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 7.0 degrees Celsius.

A thin layer of fog covered Delhi on Saturday morning as the temperature dipped further.

A dense layer of fog blanketed Kolkata as the cold wave continued to grip the city.

As of 5:30 am, dense fog conditions in isolated pockets of Delhi and West Rajasthan were observed. Moderate fog in isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and Bihar, and shallow fog in isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh, were observed. Visibilties in Delhi's Palam-50, West Rajasthan's Churu- 50, Bihar: Purnea- 200, Odisha: Bhubaneshwar-200,West Bengal's Diamond Harbour- 200, Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi- 500,and Kolkata- 500.

The minimum temperatures in many parts of Delhi,Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, plains of West Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand were in the range of 7-10 degrees Celsius. In many parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and West Bengal, the minimum temperature ranged from 11-5 degrees Celsius. These temperatures were normal to above normal in India's northern parts.

Meanwhile, Palam on Feruary 2 recorded a maximum temperature of 16.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius. 

Yesterday, the lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Amritsar at 4.8 degrees Celsius, according to IMD.   

IMD Scientist Dr Naresh said, "If we talk about the past 4-5 days, Western Disturbance can be seen in the mountain areas (Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh). Another Western Disturbance will affect from tomorrow which will lead to heavy snowfall and rainfall in the mountain regions. On the 3rd of February and 4th of February, snowfall in mountain areas and light to moderate rain in plain areas are expected. Light hailstorm activities are also expected on February 4 in Punjab, Haryana and West UP and even in North-West MP..."
