How To Convert Petrol-Diesel Car Into Electric Car: Increased prices of petrol and diesel in the country has given a rise to the demand for electric vehicles. However, electric vehicles are expensive when as compared to petrol-diesel vehicles. However, many companies can convert your regular fuel car into electric vehicles. 

How much will it cost to convert a normal car into an electric car?

It costs Rs 4 to 5 lakh to convert a normal car into an electric car. The price depends entirely on the watt power of the motor and the capacity of batteries that you install. Most of the companies undertaking this work are based in Hyderabad. This job is done by companies that make parts for electric cars.

What is the process of making electric cars?
Normal cars can be converted into electric cars using motors, controllers, rollers and batteries. The cost of your car will depend on how many kilowatt batteries and how many kilowatt motors you get installed in your car. For a 20-kilo watt electric motor and a 12-kilo watt lithium-ion battery, the cost can come up to Rs 4 lakh.

What is the difference in the cost per KM?
Tata Nexon has all three options: petrol, diesel and electric. Tata Nexon gives a mileage of 16 to 22 kilometres in petrol and diesel. If the price of petrol is considered at Rs 100 per litre and mileage is considered 16 km/l, the cost of the car, per kilometre, will be about 6.25 paise. 

On the other hand, if diesel is considered at Rs 95 per litre and mileage is considered 22 km/l, the cost of the car, per kilometre, will be around Rs 4.31 per kilometre. Talking about Tata Nexon EV, it would have spent 30.2 units of electricity on being full charged, i.e., if we consider Rs. 6/unit as the electricity cost then it would cost Rs. 181.2 for getting charged fully and then it would run for about 300km. In this way, its cost per kilometre will be close to 60 paise.

Overall, this is a huge difference.
However, these figures will be almost the same when you convert your normal car into an electric car because when a car is converted into an electric car, then all the electric parts installed in it are also new. In this case, the cost of using an electric car is much less than that of a petrol-diesel car.
