The new generation Renault Duster which is only due in 2025, might miss out on some premium features but excel in terms of space and length. The current generation Duster which did not make it here is similar to the size of the current crop of compact SUVs but the new generation Duster would be longer with a better space on the inside. The third generation model would be bigger and will have styling cues taken from the Bigster concept in terms of a boxy front-end with thick cladding plus slim LED headlamps. The Dacia Duster has been an affordable, off-road focussed SUV and hence, would be focussed on terrain handling muscle, rather than premium features.
Some of the patent images which reveal the styling of the new Duster also show that there is no sunroof- not even a standard one. In India, sunroof is a much in demand feature and yet the new Duster could skip this. Chances are that for India, the Duster could be engineered to have one. The new Duster then is more towards an off-road focussed SUV but will still be a comfortable compact SUV. Further, the new Duster would be getting a more premium interior but one which would seamlessly retain its simplistic cabin layout with smartphone based navigation.
The third generation car will also change its platform to a global one which would reap rewards in terms of ride and handling along with its off-road ability. Hence, the new Duster would be a rugged Thar 5-door rival of sorts while coming with 4x4 too since it is integral to the DNA. For India, the Duster brand name still holds value and it remains to be seen whether the new Duster is changed for our market tastes or will remain faithful to its predecessor as a tough SUV.
