Mercedes-Benz Unveils New E-Class Looking Younger & Sleeker With Extensive Updates

From a design point of view, the E-Class looks younger and sleeker while still having a typical luxury sedan flair courtesy of its massive length. India only gets the long-wheelbase version and it looks huge with long rear doors.

In India, the E-Class is one of the best selling luxury cars and is also the best selling car in its class along with being the most popular Mercedes of course.

The E-Class was also the first luxury car to be launched in India, many years hence the fondness for this car is easy to see. For Mercedes, the E-Class has been the biggest cash cow and ever since the current one was launched in long-wheelbase form, sales increased and it currently outsells every other car.

Now, Mercedes has revealed the new E-Class with many extensive updates. From a design point of view, the E-Class looks younger and sleeker while still having a typical luxury sedan flair courtesy of its massive length.

India only gets the long-wheelbase version and it looks huge with long rear doors while the design is very elegant. Changes to the design overall include new headlamps and a front bumper while it even gets new tail-lamps which are wider.

There is an AMG line being added which gets a sportier design courtesy of the new diamond grille and AMG line alloys, as seen here. Mercedes has also introduced new colours.

The real deal with the E-Class has always been the space inside as it is simply huge. For chauffeur-driven owners, the E-Class simply is the perfect choice with tons of legroom or headroom.

The rear seats recline with memory functions of up to 37 degrees and there is plenty of tech and luxury with a removable tablet in the centre armrest plus wireless chargers at the rear. New to the E-Class is the latest MBUX infotainment system with connected tech while it is also paired with Alexa and Google home.

There is a long list of features including a Burmester audio system, panoramic sunroof, air suspension, soft close doors, 360-degree camera and more. Up-front the new E-Class gets a new sportier steering wheel much like the S-Class while there are two massive 12.3-inch screens with one being for the instrument cluster.

There are new interior colours and a classy layer of wood trim being used on the dash. Before we forget, there are new touch capacity steering controls as well!

The engine options continue with the E 200 petrol, E 220d and E 350d. The E350d has the sportier AMG line and is the flagship trim.

The E200 is four-cylinder petrol with 197hp while the E200d is a 194hp four-cylinder diesel. The most powerful E-Class is a 6-cylinder diesel and that is the E350d with 286hp. Air suspension being standard helps in driving this big car easily over potholes or even giving it some agility despite it being all about luxury and comfort.

Prices start at Rs 63.6 lakh for the E200 to Rs 80.9 lakh for the E350d AMG line. The E-Class till now has sold more than 46,000 units in India and for a luxury car, that is a lot plus with the long wheelbase and luxury features, it is clearly differentiating itself over rivals.
