Maruti says that it will wait and watch before launching any EV but what about partner Toyota? Well, Toyota might be bringing in an all-new EV for our market and it would be hatchback shape. Tata Altroz EV
We have seen the Tigor EV but we will also see the Altroz EV soon since we saw the near-production form at the Auto Expo in 2020 and it would be priced higher than the Tigor but lower than the Nexon EV. The Altroz EV would have a range closer to the Nexon EV too along with being the only premium hatchback to be an EV.
MG EV SUV
The yet-unnamed SUV from MG would be an EV developed for India along with being designed for India. The new MG EV would be based on a global platform but will have high localization for achieving a lower price. It would be cheaper than the Nexon EV at an expected price of Rs 10 lakh. We also expect a high and good enough range/battery.
Hyundai EV SUV
Hyundai will have its first mass-market EV and the carmaker is readying it. The said mass-market EV will arrive a bit late in 3 years time but it will have an SUV shape plus a range claimed to be higher than other EVs. The said new Hyundai EV would be based on the localized E-GMP platform based on the global EV platform that Hyundai has.
GWM Ora R1
It is unclear when GWM will come to India but it did showcase the ORA R1 at the last Expo. It is its small car brand and is the most affordable EV in the world. You can also expect a range of 400km for this small car. That said, GWM India plans have stalled and it remains to be seen whether it comes to India or not.
