The MPV has seen a resurgence whether it be the crore plus segment or the Rs 10 lakh segment. BYD till now had its e6 mpv being the only electric one and again the Chinese ev brand, which is one of the largest sellers of EVs worldwide has been increasing its product range slowly here.
We have the Seal, the Atto 3 with a smaller battery pack and a more competitive pricetag plus now the new eMax 7. Priced at Rs 26.9 lakh starting and with the top-end model still being below Rs 30 lakh, the eMax 7 is better priced and much better value than the e6. It is the facelifted version of the e6 MPV and gains new features.
The top-end Superior model also has a larger 71.8kWh battery pack with a 530km range. The smaller Premium model has a lesser 420km range. The car while having the same length gets different and better looking front/rear bumpers plus new headlamps and new alloys. It looks much better now than the e6. The same story is on the inside with a larger 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen plus added features like a fixed glass panoramic moon roof, ADAS, powered and ventilated front seats, 360 degree camera, wireless charging pads and more. The centre console is also new and so is the new driver selector.
The analogue dials though remain the same which should be all digital ones. There is a 6 seater version finally and here the seats are comfortable enough with manual adjust but misses out on some goodies like the Alcazar or the Hycross. Still, there is a flat floor and legroom is good while quality has increased.
Power has gone up to 204 bhp over the e6 in the top-end Superior trim and standard the car gets a 7 kw AC charger with being fast charging compliant too. Now, the e7 also gets V2L feature. Priced much better the e7 is a Hycross alternative which is all electric and is now a more convincing one.
