New Delhi: The previous Glanza was nothing but a Baleno with the Maruti badge being taken away and being given a Toyota badge instead. Though it did sell, only fewer variants were available. For the new Glanza, Toyota this time has worked on the design a bit more and also changed the interior a bit.

We will talk about the exteriors first and the new look of the front end certainly makes it different from the Baleno. There is a slimmer grille but the aggressive design to the lower part of the bumper is what makes the Glanza quite the attention grabber. The lower front bumper gets carbon fibre elements and that adds a sporty touch.

The headlamps are also different when compared with Baleno. The DRL lighting signature is new and the three-element pattern seen in the Baleno is now changed to an L shaped one. There are 5 exterior Colours - Sporting Red (New), Gaming Grey (New), Enticing Silver (New), Insta Blue, Café White. The wheels are 16 inches but are not a carbon copy of the Baleno with some small changes in the design. That apart, the rear styling is the same. However, the Glanza does look way better than the previous one for sure and it is good that there is some difference in design vs the Baleno.


Just like the Baleno, the interiors feel better built and feel more solid. In comparison to the Baleno which gets silver trim along with blue/black colour combination, the interior of the Glanza has a simple gloss black dashboard along with a beige colour scheme. That makes it airy in terms of the cabin ambience. The rest of the Glanza interior is taken from the Baleno including the 9inch touchscreen with the new infotainment system.


There is also Toyota i-Connect connected car tech, Tilt and Telescopic Steering, Cruise control, Rear AC Vents, climate control, Heads up display, 360-degree view camera and 6 airbags. The engine is also the same, unsurprisingly as the K-Series Engine and comes with either a Manual Transmission (MT) or an Automatic Transmission (AMT). The engine makes around 89PS. Unlike Maruti cars, this would be the first time that Toyota is offering an AMT gearbox since the previous Glanza had a CVT automatic.


The new Glanza has more variants and the entry price is cheaper. Hence, with the G and V variants, there are now E and S variants. The Glanza gets 3 years/100,000 kilometres warranty and an option of extended warranty of up to 5 years/220000 kilometres. Prices start at Rs 6.39 lakh and go up to Rs 9.69 lakh. Hence, the price difference between the Glanza and the Baleno is hardly anything. So, it depends on which one you like more in terms of looks along with the badge of course. This time however at least you have something to decide between the two and the Glanza is now not a carbon copy like earlier!
