During this auspicious month, devotees of Lord Shiva wholeheartedly engage in worship and adoration of the mighty Mahadev. Particularly, Mondays, Pradosh Vrat, and Sawan Shivaratri hold a profound sense of reverence for Shiva Puja during this divine period. It is a time when devotees immerse themselves in devotion, seeking blessings and spiritual enlightenment from the revered deity.

Sawan Shivratri 2023: Date
The month of Sawan will begin on July 4, 2023. Normally, this month has five Mondays, but in 2023, Sawan month has just four Mondays. It will come to an end on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
Sawan Shivratri will be celebrated on July 15. On this day, devotees perform the Maha Rudra-Abhishek puja to usher in peace, marital bliss, prosperity, and good health.
According to Drik Panchang, the Chaturdashi tithi will begin at 08:32 PM on July 15, 2023, on July 15 and will end at 10:08 PM on Jul 16, 2023. The Nishita Kaal Puja Timings will begin at 12:07 am and end at 12:48 am on July 16.
Additionally, the Chaturdashi tithi begins at 10:25 AM on August 14 and ends at 12:42 PM, on August 15.
Sawan Shivratri 2023: Puja Vidhi
To observe Sawan Shivratri 2023 with proper rituals and devotion, devotees follow specific Puja Vidhi.
- Visit the temple of Lord Shiva and perform Jalabhishek to the Shiv Ling.
- Rise early in the morning, take a holy bath, and worship the idol of Lord Shiva while chanting Om Namah Shivaya.
- Observe the Monday fast throughout the month.
- Recite the Mahamrutunjaya mantra 108 times in honour of Lord Shiva.
- Perform Rudrabhishek by offering milk, curd, ghee, honey and Ganga Jal
In addition, Kanwar Yatra is a significant ritual during this period. Devotees walk on foot to visit temples dedicated to Lord Shiva to fetch the holy water and then worship God with that water.
