Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated twice a year. One falls on the full moon day of Chaitra month in the Shukla Paksha, and the other on the fourteenth day of Kartik month in the Krishna Paksha. The first Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated because Lord Hanuman was born on that day from Mata Anjani's womb, while the second one, celebrated a day before Diwali, signifies the day when Mata Sita blessed Hanuman with immortality, witnessing his unwavering devotion.

Hanuman Jayanti 2024: Legend

Many individuals remember the playful nature of Hanuman during his childhood. According to one story, he ventured across mountains and soared into the sky, attempting to consume the Sun, mistaking it for a fruit. Rahu, the malevolent planet, was on its way to the Sun to create an eclipse and encountered Hanuman. Despite Rahu's attempts to stop him, Hanuman proved stronger.

Rahu sought assistance from Lord Indra, the King of Gods, to address the situation. In an effort to resolve the issue, Indra hurled his thunderbolt weapon (Vajra), striking Hanuman and rendering him unconscious. Vayudev, upon discovering his son's state on the ground, became furious, leading to hardships on Earth. Eventually, the Gods realized their error and revived Hanuman, blessing him with multiple boons.
