Guru Purnima 2023 Date: Guru Purnima is a very important day in Hinduism. This year, the day is being observed on July 3.

Guru Purnima 2023: Guru Purnima is observed on the full moon day in the month of Ashadha. The Purnima Tithi, an auspicious day, holds great significance for Guru Puja and Shri Vyasa Puja. This year, the festival of Guru Purnima will be celebrated on Monday, July 3. On this day, it is believed, receiving the blessings of a guru grants one wealth, happiness, peace, and fame.

Guru Purnima is also referred to as Vyasa Purnima because Sage Ved Vyasa was born on this day. Let's take a look at  auspicious time for offering puja on Guru Purnima, and the method of performing the puja.

Guru Purnima Auspicious Time

  • Guru Purnima begins on July 2.
  • Guru Purnima ends at 8:21 pm on July 3.

There will be two auspicious moments on the day of Guru Purnima. The first one, Brahma Yog, will be from 7:26 pm on June 2 to 3:35 pm on July 3. The second one, Indra Yog, will begin from 3:45 pm on July 3 and remain until 11:50 am on July 4, 2023.

Guru Purnima Puja Vidhi (Rituals)

On the day of Guru Purnima, wake up early in the morning and clean the house. Take a shower and wear clean clothes. Thereafter, place an idol of Guru Vyasa in a clean spot. Offer sandalwood, flowers, and prasad (sacred food offering) to the idol. While performing the puja, recite the mantra 'Gurupanrasiddhyartha Vyaspujaan Karishaye'. Pay homage to your guru by offering a fragrant flower or garland to the picture of Ved Vyasa. Offer clothes, flowers, garlands, and dakshina (offering of money) to the guru according to your means, seeking his blessings.

Significance of Guru Purnima

Maharishi Ved Vyasa, the great figure from the mythological period who authored remarkable works such as the Brahma Sutra, Mahabharata, and the 18 Puranas, was born on the full moon day of Ashadha. On this day, not only the guru but also anyone elder to you in the family should be considered a guru. By receiving the blessings of a guru, one i sbelieved to attain a good life and prosperity. This day is also auspicious for receiving deeksha from a guru.
