New Delhi: A 22-year-old woman was booked under attempt to murder charges for trying to chop off a man's genitals in Tenali on Tuesday night. The injured was identified as Ramachandra Reddy, 30, India Today reported.


According to the police, Reddy, who hails from Thumallapalam village in the Bapatla district, has been living in Tenali for five years. Reddy got along well with Sandhya, the mother of two girls. The younger daughter, Jyothi, was unhappy with her mother's relationship with Reddy.

As she was waiting for an opportunity, one day Reddy and Sandhya returned from a theatre after watching a movie as the former was in an inebriated state. At the same time, Sandhya went outside to get some water, her daughter Jyothi found it at the right time and have attacked the man by attempting to cut off his genitals with a blade.


Locals from neighbourhood reached the spot after hearing Reddy scream out loud in pain. As soon as they found Reddy in such a state, they admitted him to the Tenali government hospital and later he was shifted to Guntur District Government Hospital for better treatment.


Police registered a case against Jyothi and one of her friends, who helped to attack, under IPC section 307, attempt to murder. Further investigation is underway, said police.
