TDP's Narsipatnam MLA C Ayyannapatrudu Unanimously Elected Speaker Of Andhra Assembly

The proposals for Ayyannapatrudu's candidacy were put forth by prominent leaders including Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh, and BJP's Staya Kumar Yadava.

In a significant political development, TDP's Narsipatnam MLA C Ayyannapatrudu was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 16th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Saturday. 

Addressing the Assembly, Pro-tem Speaker and TDP's Rajahmundry Rural MLA G Butchaiah Chowdary announced the election results. He highlighted that the proposals for Ayyannapatrudu's candidacy were put forth by prominent leaders including Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh, and BJP's Staya Kumar Yadava.

"As Ayyannapatrudu was the only person who filed the nomination, I declare that he has been elected as the Speaker unanimously. I extend my wholehearted congratulations to Ayyannapatrudu and request him to ascend the Speaker's chair," said Chowdary.

The procedural aspect of the election saw only three nominations received on Friday, all in support of Ayyannapatrudu, confirmed PPK Ramacharyulu, secretary general of the Legislative Assembly.

Following the official announcement, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, along with other dignitaries, escorted Ayyannapatrudu to the Speaker's chair. In his inaugural address, Naidu praised Ayyannapatrudu, recognizing his extensive experience and leadership.

"It is very happy to see a recognized BC leader like you (Ayyannapatrudu) in the position of the Speaker. My wholehearted congratulations to you for being unanimously elected as the Speaker," Naidu stated. He further elaborated on Ayyannapatrudu's background, noting his seniority among legislators in the Telugu states.

 

The second day of the first session of the 16th Legislative Assembly began at 10:30 am, with three MLAs completing their oath of office, finalizing the swearing-in process for all 175 MLAs of the state.

On Saturday, Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan also addressesed the first session of the State Assembly after taking charge.

Meanwhile, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is not expected to attend the Assembly as he is scheduled for a visit to Kadapa district.
