New Delhi: One person was killed in a suspected bomb explosion in Andhra Pradesh’s Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari district on Monday, sources told ABP News. The explosion took place in Rythu Nagar on Awa Road in Rajamahendravaram, they said. 


The deceased was identified as Koteswara Rao who was alone in the house while his wife and children were playing next door when the explosion took place. 


Footage of the incident shows a ramshackled house with debris inside. An investigation has been initiated and the Police and clues team has been collecting evidence. 


According to a report by news agency IANS the explosion took place in a house where firecrackers were being manufactured. A cooking gas cylinder also exploded which resulted in the entire house raising to the ground.


The house located in a densely populated area was completely damaged in the tragedy that struck on Diwali.


As per the officials quoted by the news agency as saying, the man was illegally manufacturing firecrackers for sale during the festival. 


YSR Congress Party Rural Coordinator Chandana Nageswara Rao visited the incident site and expressed his condolences to the family and promised to provide financial assistance from the government.


The incident is second such occurence in the state in the last 24 hours in Andhra Pradesh. 


Two persons were killed in a fire in a firecracker shop in Vijayawada on Sunday.

The incident occurred when traders were setting up firecracker shops at Gymkhana Grounds in Gandhi Nagar area in Vijayawada.

Three out of 19 shops were completely gutted in the fire, which set off huge explosions.
