New Delhi: Hours after Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan made an ambivalent statement on his future with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), his party clarified he was not leaving NDA and is only extending his support to TDP, news agency ANI reported. His party on Thursday said the actor-turned-politician, while addressing a public meeting in Krishna district, did not say he was leaving NDA.
“Pawan Kalyan said that though I am in NDA, I am coming out to say that we will support the TDP as they are weak now. This does not mean he is leaving NDA. It means despite being a part of NDA, Kalyan will support TDP as they are weak now,” ANI quoted Bolisetty Satyanarayana, state general secretary and Jana Sena spokesperson, as saying.
“I want to clarify this to the people that we are very much with the NDA and we are going to be with TDP also. We are with TDP as its experience is needed to throw YSRCP out from Andhra Pradesh,” Satyanarayana further told the news agency.
The clarification comes in the wake of Pawan Kalyan extending his support to TDP and the party chief Chandrababu Naidu who has been lodged in prison in connection with the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Scam case.
"Today, TDP is struggling and we will support them. TDP need Jana Sainik's support in this situation. If TDP and JanaSena join hands, YSRCP will be submerged in the state,” Kalyan said, as quoted by ANI.
According to the news agency, earlier last month, Pawan Kalyan had visited Chandrababu Naidu in the Rajahmundry Central Jail where the latter is lodged.
Meanwhile, the Vijayawada ACB court extended the judicial custody of TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu till October 19.
