Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Police trying to thwart government employees to enter Vijayawada, in the context of "Chalo Vijayawada", being organised by Pay Revision Commission (PRC) Sadhana Samithi on Thursday.


Employees staged protests to reverse the PRC and called for a "Chalo Vijayawada" rally. On BRTS Road, Samithi members and officials of other employee associations recommended holding a march and meeting.


Even though the protest demonstration was denied authorization, several government employees reached Vijayawada in different modes of transport. The majority of them arrived at the APNGO headquarters, and dharna chowk, where the rally began, and numerous others joined along the route.

Government employees in disguise from different districts are raising slogans against the government.


Venkatramareddy, president of the Secretariat Employees Union, reached Vijayawada. Trade union leaders said the movement would not stop until the government reverse the PRC.


Leaders of staff associations have stated that if the government does not respond, the agitation will escalate.


Police erected blocks on the routes leading to BRTS in Vijayawada city, but protesting employees gathered at the station and staged a big gathering. Attempts to detain employees in various locations to prevent them from attending the protest gathering were ineffective.


Meanwhile, Vijayawada police directed traffic to BRTS road and put similar restrictions on vehicles arriving in Vijayawada from various locations. A large number of police officers were stationed along the BRTS road at various points.
