Chennai: After years of struggle transpersons are finally getting a breakthrough in the cis-dominated world especially during Urban Body Elections. Like last year, the major parties of Tamil Nadu have yet again paid attention to their demands and started to field transwomen in the run-up for Urban Local Body Elections 2021.

Till now, three transwomen have received a ticket. Jayadevi has been fielded in Ward No 112 (Kodambakkam) by AIADMK, Rajamma has been fielded by BJP in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar and R Ganga has been fielded by DMK in ward 37 of Vellore.

Jayadevi who is set to contest from Teynampet zone first got associated with AIADMK in 2008, reports The Hindu. She reportedly joined the party by taking the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa as an inspiration to fight against the male-dominated world.

On the development plans for her constituency, Jayadevi said that she will work towards improving the condition of the roads, drains and take flood mitigation efforts.
