Around 15 workers suffered injuries, including five seriously, at a cement factory in NTR District of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, a police official said.
Some reports claimed that there was a blast in the factory, which led to the injuries. However, police officials clarified that the incident unfolded due to hot material falling over the workers.
Nandigama assistant commissioner of police B Ravi Kiran said when workers were on the second floor, some extremely hot material used in cement manufacture fell on them from the third floor at the Budawada Ultra Tech cement factory in Jaggaiahpeta mandal of NTR district.
He stated that the material fell from the third floor when workers were on the second floor at the Budawada Ultra Tech cement factory in Jaggaiahpeta mandal of the NTR district.

"There was no blast, but a large amount of material fell from the third floor to the second floor. Because of this hot material, many people suffered burn injuries," Kiran said, as reported by PTI.
The accident took place around 11.30 am and the injured included locals and migrant workers, according to the ACP. Following the incident, some laborers stormed the office of the factory, breaking windows and causing damage, which led the police to intervene and restore order.
CM Chandrababu Naidu Directs Officials To Take Action
In response to this industrial accident, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured workers. As per the report of an official, Naidu directed officials to submit a report on the cause of the accident and initiate action against those responsible for it.
He also directed the officials to make sure that the company compensated the injured workers and assured additional support from the state government. All the injured workers have been admitted to nearby hospitals in Jaggayyapeta and Vijayawada.
