Andhra Pradesh : Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Officer-On-Special Duty Dollar Seshadri (74) died of a cardiac arrest on Monday at Visakhapatnam. 


Dollar Seshadri had attended the Karthika Deepotsavam function in Visakhapatnam on Sunday night. He had also taken part in Lord Venkateswara's Pavalimpu Seva at TTD Kalyanamandapam. 


Seshadri reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at 4 am and died while being taken to Apollo Hospital. His last rites will be performed at Govindadham in Tirupati on Tuesday.


Dollar Seshadri, who had joined TTD in 1978, actually retired in 2007 but continued to be an officer on special duty as he was given multiple extensions. Seshadri was the most prominent figure in TTD, which oversees the affairs of the world's richest Hindu temple. He was well-versed in the history of the Tirupati temple as well as all the rituals.


TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy condoled the demise of Dollar Seshadri. "The Death of Dollar Seshadri is a huge loss to the Tirumula Tirupati Devastanam," he said.


Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed "shock" over the death of Seshadri, and expressed condolences to his family.
