Hyderabad: Following Former Andhra Minister P Narayana Rao's arrest on Tuesday in Hyderabad by Chittoor Police in the SSC exam question paper leak case, Opposition Leader and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that the YSRCP government made the arrest based on false evidence to exact political revenge on the TDP leader.

Naidu in the letter mentioned that after arresting P Narayana in Hyderabad, the police deliberately delayed bringing him to Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh to delay producing him in the Court and to keep him in the custody of the police at night time.

In the letter, Naidu accused the ruling government in Andhra Pradesh has made arrests with mala fide intention as they have added new sections in the FIR in the SSC exam paper leak case. The former Andhra Pradesh CM levelled allegations against Chittoor SP Rishanth Reddy as the IPS officer who has been acting in favour of the YSRCP party. Naidu asked Union Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene in the incident and to do justice for the illegal arrests in the state. Along with Amit Shah, Chandrababu also wrote a letter to state Governor Bishwabhushan Harichandan.

The TDP chief had earlier issued a statement condemning former minister Narayana's arrest. Naidu described Narayana's arrest as vengeful, saying that after receiving widespread criticism for its inability to administer the SSC exams, the government detained Narayana to distract public attention.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Naidu questioned how the government could hold Narayana responsible for mass copying and examination failures, notwithstanding Education Minister Botcha Satyanarayana's claim that there was no question paper leaks.
